Q & A
Will we have privacy aboard Shangri-La?
Absolutely, the crew are very discreet and have their own quarters and facilities in the bow of the boat. The staterooms and saloon are separate and provide you with complete privacy. The crew are on board to make this a voyage for you to cherish and will provide special touches, such as bringing you breakfast in bed, organising beach picnics, taking you to secluded bays and pristine beaches and showing you great snorkelling locations. They will understand when you want to be alone and respect your privacy.
Who organises the cruise?Shangri-La is at your sole disposal for the duration of the charter, and whilst the Captain can suggest and advise on different ports of call or cruising areas, the itinerary and each day's activities are entirely up to you, subject to practical considerations and the safety of the vessel and all those aboard. You might prefer that the next day's activities are planned the night before, perhaps over cocktails before dinner, or you can devise your schedule more in advance. Whether you want to explore ashore, take a shopping trip, lie on a beach, swim, snorkel, sail, water ski, go out to famous restaurants, or party all night, you can be as active or as relaxed as you wish.
Can we choose what is on the menu?
At the time of booking, we will provide you with a detailed questionnaire asking you to tell us what you like to eat and any dietary requirements you might have, and your preferences for wines, beers and soft drinks. We can provide you with sample or suggested menus if you would like us to. We will provision the yacht according to your desires, but the opportunity will also exist to discuss changes when on board. Our chef will be purchasing fresh provisions regularly from ports of call, giving you the opportunity to try local produce and specialities if preferred. Obviously, some islands and smaller destinations offer more a limited range of produce, so it is sometimes necessary to adjust menus according to availability of ingredients.
Are we able to discuss the cruise with the crew before departure?
Most certainly, at any time, the Captain and crew will be happy discuss every aspect of your time on board, and a meeting soon after your arrival is often a good opportunity to meet and familiarise yourselves with the crew and their different roles. It can also be a good opportunity to clarify any special dietary requirements and to discuss your preferences.
