Captain: Allen Cox |
Crew Profiles:
Captain Allen Victor Cox is a Charter legend. One of the most experienced British charter captains in the Eastern Med, he is a font of knowledge on the historic ruins and sites that exist along this coast, some only accessible by boat. He knows every hidden bay, every private beach, every secluded island that can make your voyage a magical mystery tour of exotic locations. He is also a bon-viveur, a raconteur, a character capable of entertaining his Guests throughout the day and deep into the night, if you would like him to. As one of the first British captains in these waters since 1975, he has accumulated an unrivaled feast of knowledge and experience that can be put to good use in making yours a unique voyage. He can take you far beyond the well-worn tourist trail and show you a Greece and Turkey that few know exist. See the Blue Grotto of Kastelorizon, snorkel a sunken submarine, a sunken Lancaster bomber and dive to a remarkably intact Spitfire fighter; all relics little known to the tourist traveller.
Chef Simon French is Cordon-Bleu trained and qualified, and has worked in Britain, France, Monaco, Spain and Australia, and as a private chef for a Royal family, and more recently in his own successful UK restaurant. He now hosts gourmet tours around Majorca and Spain, but as a personal friend of the owner, joins us as master-chef aboard Shangri-La. He can create any kind of menus that you desire, from haute nouvelle cuisine to simple, tasty fare; all presented with a flair and a magical twist that will have you keenly anticipating every new meal.
Principle Hostess Claire Sweeney is Simon's partner, a mature, experienced hostess, multi-lingual, resourceful, great fun and good company. She has worked in Britain, Japan, Australia, Indonesia and Sri Lanka as a personal assistant to the Chairmen of multi-national Companies, worked in the legal profession in the UK, and managed her own restaurant with chef Simon.
Second Hostess Stacy Dark joins us for the first time, continuing the sea-faring tradition of her family. Fluently multi-lingual, having grown up in Turkey, she is a master of the formal table, and a likeable and obliging hostess keen to make her mark.
